Molly's Members' Meeting: Proposal Writing
On 11-12 February 2015, 28 Molly's Network members from around the country gathered at the MIC Hotel in Ubungo for a two day workshop on proposal writing.
Molly's Network had identified this as a common area of weakness and interest amongst our member organisations, with many organisations inexperienced in writing proposals and unsure what information was of interest to donors and how to present it.
The workshop was facilitated by Molly's Network, with guest facilitators including the Community Grants Coordinator from USAID and the Coordinator at Canada Fund, the Canadian Ambassador, and a monitoring and evaluation expert.
The workshop was highly participatory, with members designing proposals to save Valentine's life and to win Bongo Star Search! In their feedback they were unanimous that this participatory nature supported their learning greatly.
What our facilitators and participants thought:
'Canada Fund has supported Molly's Network to assess women-led small, local organisations and to provide structured capacity building for these organisations to develop further. In February 2015 we attended a workshop for these assessed members, and it was quite obvious that they learned a lot during the proposal writing workshop and took it to heart. We are very impressed with Molly's Network and the work that they do. We hope that they will be able to help more NGOs in Tanzania.' - Lynette Corcino, Coordinator, Canada Fund for Local Initiatives
'I liked Lynette being 'the bad cop': very honest and constructive comments.' - Francesca, Wonder Workshop
'Oh my, it has been very exciting yet very enjoyable to gain experience of being face to face with donors. Thank you - Great experience.' - Felistas, Executive Dirctor, Cdtfn
'I'm feeling comfortable on developing funding proposal now. It's different from where I felt before. For example the whole proposal is different from what I knew before. I am now capable of writing convincingly.' - Shabani, Faraja Trust Fund
